What is 17-4PH Stainless Steel Round Bar?
Niobium (columbium) is added to the chromium-nickel-copper alloy 17-4PH Stainless Steel Round Bar (UNS S17400) to allow for precipitation hardening. It has outstanding mechanical qualities when annealed and when aged (heat-treated), and it remains strong and resistant to corrosion in a variety of conditions, including marine situations and moderately corrosive atmospheres.
In certain industrial applications, heat treatment via controlled ageing (e.g., H900, H1025) enables customised mechanical performance.
